Games against Newton Academy, Llandudno and Prestatyn Town

Airbus U8s – Newtown (A)
A small squad took the trip to Newtown for 1 x 5v5 game, on a very big pitch the boys started brightly keeping possession and maintaining pressure.
Our passing game is exceptional at times for such young players, lots of good goals scored and one or two errors in possession which led to a couple of goals against.
Excellent for the young Wingmakers
George Shirley man of the match, excellent defending and confident in possession.

Airbus U9s – Newtown (A)
Our u9s Wingmakers travelled to Newtown for this weekends fixture.
Airbus were on top from the start with our objective to switch play when possible taking the lead.
Newtown were very physical of which Airbus matched in every position. In a game of few goals both teams fought out a very good game.
Player of the week - Isaac Duffy - solid performance in the heart of our defence playing out with detail at every opportunity.

Airbus U10s – Newtown (A)
Great performances Saturday from all the lads, had a reshuffle with formation which made us better on and off the ball.
Played really good football in attacking stages linking up well scoring amazing team goals and worked really hard off the ball and creating plenty of chances throughout the game.
Players of the week - George Graydon & Jack Thomas

Airbus U11s – Newtown (A)
Long journey saw the u11s take on Newtown. A great physical test for the young Wingmakers who fought hard throughout. Team showed great link up play which led to goal opportunities.
Player of the week: Lucas Lovell - Lucas played in various positions putting in maximum effort.

Airbus U12s – Newtown (A)
Airbus 12s took a long trip down to Newtown who we recently had a close even match back in early September.
First half both teams looked scrappy and couldn’t really get hold of the ball. Not many chances were made and it’s ended 0-0.
2nd half was similar to the first. Both teams trying to play but couldn’t find any break through.
The deadlock was finally broken after a superb half volley from Mynor Evans gave Airbus the lead. In the final stages of the match, both teams continued to play some excellent football, with Newtown pressing hard to get the equaliser and Airbus defending bravely.
However, in the final minute Newtown were awarded a free kick just outside the area. From the initial shot, Airbus goalkeeper Arjan Singh did well to push the ball onto the post but was rebounded in from a Newtown player to make it 1-1 FT.
Player of the week – Mynor Evans

Airbus U13s – Newtown (A)
The 13’s played very well in the opening 20 minutes away at Newtown hitting the bar early on before Toby Owen was pulled down for a penalty converted by Toby, 1-0 Airbus.
However, following taking the lead, 15 minutes either side of half time saw Airbus concede 6 goals, with the strong and pacey Newtown attack causing problems for the Wingmakers.
As the game went into the final 20 minutes, the boys settled down and were again the better team, playing some excellent football, which resulted in a second goal when Henry Jones played a good ball from left to right and Fynley Wardle finished well.
Again, there were plenty of positives to be taken from the game as Airbus produced some excellent phases of play, and when they produce this type of football, they can be a match for any team.
Man of the match Fynley Wardle, never gave up and constantly encouraging teammates, rewarded with a well taken goal .

Airbus U14s – Newtown (A)
The under 14’s travelled to Latham Park for a tea time kick off against Newtown.
Only a few weeks ago our opponents made the reverse trip, which proved to be a very productive day for the Wingmakers. A much different challenge away today and there was a frantic start to the game with Newtown looking to disrupt any momentum Airbus were looking for with a very aggressive press. The Wingmakers settled down and found their feet, the first goal coming with a free kick into the box followed by a brief scramble before Lucas Braisdell poked home for his second in as many games.
Airbus continued to probe and Noah Al Dulayymi’s pace once again causing all sorts of problems for his opponents and he slotted home for 2-0.
The visitors looked to be heading into half time 2-0 to the good but the referee awarded the hosts a penalty right on half time which they took well to go in 2-1.
A quick re-group to refer back to our match objectives and game plan reminded us of our approach before we went back out but it was the hosts that scored first 10 minutes into the second half, a Newtown forward battling with our centre back for the ball when the referee’s whistle was blown, seemingly for an Airbus free kick, our players momentarily stopping play with Newtown prodding the loose ball into the net, but the referee confusingly allowed the goal to stand. We were at a loss but had to control our emotions, Newtown went and got a third quickly after that goal and Airbus were left searching for the equaliser after being 2-0 up earlier in the game.
15 minutes to go and Noah Al-Dulayymi found himself through again and our confidence in him 1v1 continues as he poked past the goalkeeper for 3-3.
The game had lost structure from both teams by now, and it was end to end as we approached the final whistle Airbus having a free kick right at the end which they unfortunately couldn’t capitalise on. Final score 3-3, a tough day for the players to find any rhythm with our backs against the wall from the start but a point on the road we can be happy with and can take the positives forward into our next fixture.
Player of the week – Piotr Wlodarczyk
Our back 4 faced a big and strong forward player today who was clearly Newtown’s main threat, Piotr welcomed the challenge and made several last ditch tackles in and around our box to spoil their chances in front of goal, he relished his 1v1 battles with strength and determination earning himself player of the week.

Airbus U15s – Newtown (H)
Airbus U15 welcomed Newtown to The Hollingsworth Group Stadium.
The performance from the young Wingmakers was excellent throughout the fixture and we had 5 clear cut chances across both halves from open play that on another day could have seen us out of sight – we had much success playing against a mid to low block and made numerous half chances keeping well to our principles of play.
The trouble being that if you don’t take your chances, you can get punished and that is what happened.
Despite being in total control, a long ball over the top twice caught us out where our decision making needs to be better.
Tough result for the lads to take but valuable learning that despite controlling a game, we need to be better in both boxes to gain a positive result.
Player of the week: Fin Hayes – The lad is now finding space in midfield areas to influence the game going forward in possession. Put that with his incredible work rate and improved discipline, the lad is definitely going in the right direction at the moment – Well done Fin

Airbus U16s – Newtown (H)
U16s welcomed Newtown to the Airfield for a late morning kick off.
Airbus started the game well showing some really good phases of play and controlling the game well.
Only for about 10 minutes in the first half Airbus lost a bit of control and allowed Newtown creating some chances on the break.
Although Airbus controlled it we didn’t create too many chances from our good areas. It was 0-0 going into half time and probably came at the wrong time for Airbus.
Half time allowed Newtown to regroup and come out for the start of the second half a different team. Causing Airbus much discomfort when trying to build play up in their own half. A few tweaks from Airbus got us a little more control in the game but nowhere near what we had in the first half.
Newtown took the lead 10 minutes into the second after some good play down their left hand side. This disappointingly took the stuffing out of Airbus who lacked a bit of determination to change this around.
Airbus didn’t put too much pressure on Newtown for the remainder of the game in the search for a equaliser. Overall, we got punished for not taking the lead when we were on top in the game and not dealing with going behind well enough.
Player of the match – Harvey O’Sullivan
Got into some good positions offensively in the first half and positively impacted when he came back on in the second half to gain some more control.

PDP – Llandudno (A)
This Sunday saw the PDP put a mixed squad of 16’s, reserves and 19’s together to travel up the road to Llandudno for a friendly
Airbus started the game a little slowly and the hosts were good from the off putting us under pressure early on with some direct play
Quickly finding ourselves 2-0 down in 30’ we really had to galvanise ourselves and pull ourselves together and play our way in to the game
Quickly we started to control the ball and the tempo but couldn’t break down the block of Llandudno. Eventually on 36’ some good combination play as Harry Jones chipped the keeper assisted by Robbie Jones.
Finishing the half very strong and controlling the majority of the play but 2-1 behind
Second half the hosts started stronger and came out pressing aggressively. They managed to pinch another goal after a mix up at the back and punished us for it and taking the lead 3-1
We very quickly got back to dominating the ball with our mixed group of players who combined and played really well in spells
Changing our route to goal slightly was rewarded on 64’ as Liam Jones played Robbie Jones in for a fantastically struck goal.
69’ from the same pattern of play Robbie then slid the ball across to Harry Jones for his second of the game
The hosts broke away in the 79’ to score the winner. Final score 4-3 Llandudno
Fantastic for Airbus to play Harry Phythian and Jacob Clements for part of the game who played up from the 16’s with the PDP group, well done boys
Player of the week goes to Lloyd Robinson who came off the bench early on to put a fabulous performance in. Lloyd has taken to the PDP phase brilliantly and is transitioning in to his first senior season really well. Keep it up Lloyd

Airbus Reserves – Prestatyn Town (H)
Fridays nights reserve team fixture saw Prestatyn visit the Hollingsworth Stadium.
Airbus controlled possession of the ball well but impatience and poor organisation behind the ball lead to two counterattacks. Rhys Whitley, in goal, made two excellent 1v1 saves to deny Prestatyn.
A good move lead to a cross from Lloyd Robinson which was deflected into the Prestatyn goal. Airbus dominated the remainder of the half and moved the ball quickly creating a couple of good chances.
The second half Airbus took advantage of the possession and a now tired Prestatyn team and scored 4 more goals.
The pleasing thing to see was a massive improvement in attacking corners and ruthlessness in front of goal.
Player of the week is Rhys Whitley
