Airbus Academy Report – 14th-15th December 2024

Michelle Griffiths19 Dec 2024 - 11:10

FAW National Academi Festival, Hawarden Rangers, Bala Town and Spotted By FC on our games list for our WingMakers

Airbus U9s – FAW Festival (N)
Our u9 Wingmakers played in the FAW festival this weekend.
The u9s started off positively playing at a high intensity and moving the ball around teams very well. Our u9s continued to move and use the ball very well creating a lot of chances, but lost focus at times and gave up on their defensive responsibilities. Overall a great festival for the u9s with loads of positives to take for every player.

Man of the match goes to Oscar Davies, as he was strong defensively throughout the festival and his quality on the ball allowed us to move teams around creating space.

Airbus U11s - FAW Festival (N)
U11s attended FAW Robin held this time at TNS.
The boys had a great afternoon showcasing all the hard work they’ve put in at training.

Player of the Day Shay Davies communicated to his team well and showed great confidence to play out from the back.

Airbus U12s – Bala Town (H)
Last game before the Christmas break. Lads looking to make it 6 wins out of their last 8 games. Knowing Bala are going to come at us strong and quick trying to get a result, we started off under a bit of pressure from Bala’s press.

Airbus lads tried to score early on, but by doing so we kept gifting the ball back to Bala. After a few words we calmed the pace down and started creating opportunities. We shortly then went 1-0 up and held the lead until HT.

Then second half we managed to score a penalty to make it 2-0. Coming to the end of the game the lads managed to pass around Bala and started scoring more goals. Goal of the season contender from Olly with a half volley 20-25 yards out. To finish it off Freddie R put in a brilliant cross for Olly to tap in his second of the game. Finishing 4-0 brilliant result and an excellent end to first half of the season.

MOTM- Olly scored a lovely goal and always looked a threat

Airbus U13s – Hawarden Rangers (A)
13’s played away at Hawarden 14’s, on a bobbly heavy pitch the boys struggled to play our passing game but took the lead through Harry Williams and went into the break 1-0 up.

Second half and the bigger game, playing 11v11, and the poor surface didn’t work for us as we couldn’t get our passing game going, we conceded a few goals second half but a good learning game for the boys moving forward.

Player of the week – Fletcher Jones

Airbus U14s – Bala Town (H)
The under 14s were hosts to Bala Town for their final match of 2024.
With both U14 goalkeepers unavailable, ‘keeper Will Rishworth joined the squad, alongside his U13 teammate Harry Williams.

The boys had been working hard in training this week looking at breaking lines, specially through the midfield, so it was a real pleasure to see them applying what they hard learned in a game situation.

Despite a rare mix up at the back gifting the visitors a head start in the game, Airbus were able to create some excellent goal scoring opportunities

Jack Melia opened the scoring, before Noah Al-Dulayymi doubled our tally shortly before the break to ensure we went in with a 2-1 lead.

We reviewed a couple of things at half time and the response was breath-taking.
Airbus flew out of the blocks at the second half, moving the ball quickly but with far more precision than in the first half. Patience was required at times, but our decision making on when to play forward and when to retain possession was much better.

This resulted in four more second half goals, coming from Jack Melia, Noah Al-dulayymi and Lucas Braisdell.

Overall a very pleasing team performance with several big individual performances to boot. Young Will Rishworth was fantastic in goal, pulling off an outstanding save from close range. Noah Al-dulayymi was also back to his best, being involved in all six of Airbus’ goals.

However, player of the week this week goes to Joseph Farrell who produced an all-round incredible performance. He held a key defensive role, not only breaking up the Bala attack, but displayed a great calmness when under pressure, frequently turning defence into attack.

Airbus U15s – Spotted By FC
The U15 entertained Get Spotted FC Academy U16s on Saturday morning at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Our opponents were excellent and totally justified their status as an excellent outfit with numerous U16 pro club players performing well.

The Young Wingmakers struggled to get their game going and had a couple of decent chances but couldn’t convert.

The 2nd half was a better showing by the lads and we scored through Max Murray. We hit the post and had a chance cleared off the line but conceded a couple of goals in return.

A good learning experience against quality opposition and the lads will be better for it in the long run.
Well done to everyone and I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas.

Player of the week:
Max Murray
– Max has been excellent over the past few weeks leading up to the Christmas break. Excellent improvement shown and looked impressive during the 2nd half on Saturday

U17s girls – Llanwrst (H)
Unfortunately we only had 9v9 today We started playing up hill first with 4 at back but were struggling to cover the ground in the middle of park ,we started strong with a few chances to go ahead but just at the wrong time our touch was a bit heavy giving the keeper time to react and smother .

It was 0-0 at half time ,we changed keeper and formation, going to 3 at back and playing a DM just in front of.

This is was what we needed and opened the scoring as the ball fell to Molly who finished well .

But as we pushed for the second the visitors held their defensive line and won it back and with a neat bit of work on the edge of box a shot from the edge pulled them level .
But as the visitors thought they’d got back in the game ,the hosts pushed on again .

Guinnie who had some amazing runs through previously actually played a terrific ball to Freya P who turned and rolled it through to Guinnie who this time picked out a finish to put the hosts back in the lead .

The hosts then pushed on and Ruby laid it off to Molly to run onto and strike an effort which bounced just before the keeper and rolled in .

The girls then pushed for another but some heavy touches let us down and then Freya P got the ball and threaded it through to Jen to coolly run on to and finish in the bottom corner.
The visitors didn’t give up and even with a long range free kick crashed it against the post .
It ended up 4-1 but this was a closer game than the score suggests.

Goals coming from Molly, Jen and Guinnie

Player of the week Molly Harper
