Early exit in the Welsh Cup for the Wingmakers

One change to the starting line-up from the Holywell game and that saw Oliver Lanceley replace Brad Knight.

Airbus started the game very brightly with Cooke causing Briton trouble down the right hand side.

On 5 minutes the first booking of the game was shown when Evans was booked for a late challenge on Cooke.

7 minutes and Airbus created their first clear chance of the game. Cooke involved once again as he made his way past the Briton defence for him to pull the ball back to Lanceley.

It looked a goal but Lanceley effort was put wide of the post.

A corner allowed Evans to send a shot goal wards but his effort ricocheted off the crossbar.

Shortly after, Briton Ferry had there first chance on goal as they worked the ball well into their left back Evans, who danced past Collins to put a great cross against the 6 yard box but Briton were unable to make a connection at the back post.

On 27 minutes, brilliant work from Collins in the midfield allowed him to put a ball through to Cooke who seen his effort blocked.

Just before half time, Airbus got themselves a goal. Rickett played a great ball in behind the Briton Ferry defence to find Lanceley. Lanceley played a great ball across goal which was met by a Ferry defender but it landed at Jordan Evans feet as he smashed a great shot into the back of the net.

Airbus should of gone into half time with a 2-0 lead, when great persistent work by Lanceley allowed him to get a cross into the box, Peers connected and his effort looked to have crossed the line but this time wasn’t given.

Airbus with deserved lead going into the half term break.

Second half and Airbus could of doubled their lead straight from kick off as Palmer seen his shot just go over the crossbar.
Again great work from Lanceley, who drove with the ball at the Briton defence who eventually found Cooke to see his shot saved by Wilson.

Briton Ferry started the second half much better team and they were rewarded with a goal to get themselves back into the game. A ball played back to Rickett who stepped out to play forward seen his pass intercepted and the ball was played through to Bowen to slot home.

20 minutes remaining and fresh legs were introduced when Lindfield replaced the hard working Lanceley.

With 10 minutes to go, Briton Ferry were rewarded a penalty. A ball into Walters from the midfield and McManus was penalised for allegedly bringing the Briton Ferry player down.

Bowen stepped up and converted from the penalty spot.

A long ball from Jones found Lindfield, who won the header and Collins played a brilliant ball into Peers who’s delightful touch and turn seen the ball in the back of the net but he seen his brilliant effort ruled out for offside.

91st minute and Airbus had a great chance to equalise, when Baker made his way to the touchline and pulled the ball back begging for a touch, Peers managed to get in a great position but was unable to make a connection, Cooke was waiting at the back post but his effort was blocked.

A game Airbus felt like they should of won in the first half and even had their chances in the second but credit to Briton Ferry who never gave up.

We wish them all the best for the rest of the season and their Welsh Cup run.
