Saturday afternoon we welcomed Caersws to The Hollingsworth Stadium for our fourth-round tie in the FAW JD Welsh Cup.
After Storm Darragh putting stop to our league fixture last weekend Airbus were looking to continue their cup run and reach the quarter finals.
There was two changes to the Ruthin game two weeks ago with Nath Williams and Danny Warren replacing Joe Palmer and Oli Lanceley.
Airbus started the first half on the front foot with some sharp passages of play, but the final ball was the only thing letting the home side down in the first 15 minutes.
Josh Stevenson header was denied by the Caersws ‘keeper Williams after a great delivery from Jordan Evans.
A mistake by Airbus allowed Harries to capitalise but his effort was wide of the post.
Stevenson turned provider not long after when he delivered a ball into the box which found Danny Warren, but the forwards header was just past the post.
Half time whistle was blown and both teams went into the half time break with the score levels.
There was a half time substitution for Airbus as the returning Kaiden Cooke replaced Sam Baker due to illness.
7 minutes into the second half, Airbus had their breakthrough when a cross from Cooke was half cleared and landed at the feet of the oncoming Jordan Evans, and he made no mistake smashing the ball home.
The game opened up a little after the deadlock was broken and Cooke was impacting the game excellently.
The away goalkeeper was becoming busy in his goal and this time he denied Warren with a brilliant save and the follow up from Cooke was blocked for a corner.
Cooke’s delivery into the box was causing problems for the Caersws defence. This time he delivered a cross but Warren failed to make the connection to trouble Williams.
Caersws had an opportunity to equalise as McLaughin found himself with Keighan Jones to beat but the Airbus ‘keeper stood tall and kept Airbus with their lead.
James Davies found himself in a 1v1 situation with Williams but the number 20 failed to take the chance.
Cooke delivered another teasing ball into the Caersws box and Jordan Evans was the Airbus player this time attacking the ball but Williams was up to the task to deny our vice-captain.
Jake Eyre was introduced to the game with 5 minutes reaming for some fresh legs replacing George Peers.
Our No.10 secured progression into the quarter finals in injury time with a shot from a very tight angle, which beat the goalkeeper and nestled in the bottom left-hand corner.
