Tuesday evening, we welcomed Penryhncoch for a re-arranged game after our postponement because of weather in January.
There was two changes for Airbus with Nath Williams and James Davies replacing the injured Sam Rickett and suspended Joe Palmer
The hosts got us underway with the sun setting over the stands on a cool spring evening.
Airbus had a chance on 3 minutes with a lovely delivery from a corner by Jordan Evans which found Danny Warren at the far post, but his effort was over.
The visitors had a chance two minutes later, when they had a great chance from a corner. Kieran Booker found himself some space on the edge of the area and his volley was on target, but Keighan Jones managed to tip the effort over.
George Peers was involved from the first whistle and on 16 minutes he delivered a great turn to allow him to drop the ball into Kaiden Cooke, but his shot was just wide of the far post.
A minute later, Peers was involved once again, this time it was himself that managed to get a shot way which brought a great save from Leigh Jenkins.
Tyler McManus found himself in a great pocket of space on 23’ and from 35 yards he tried his luck with a sweetly struck effort which ricocheted off the crossbar and Jenkins beaten.
Airbus were having plenty of joy playing forward but were struggling in the final third.
Kieran Evans stepped in to play the ball into Warren, who flicked it round the corner for James Davies, but his shot was deflected for a corner.
From the resulting corner, Josh Stevenson sent a bullet header towards goal, but Jenkins made another save to deny the Airbus defender.
Another great delivery from a wide area, this time from McManus found Davies but his shot was over.
With five minutes left on the clock before half time, Airbus were rewarded a free kick. Jordan Evans stood over the set piece, and he delivered a free kick towards Jenkins’ goal, and it managed to sneak under the goalkeeper and in.
Penryhncoch had a half chance just before half time when Zac Davies had a shot, but it was comfortable for Keighan Jones. This ended the first half and Airbus went into the half time break a goal to the good.
Airbus started the second half really well and had their two-goal cushion within a minute of the restart with a brilliantly worked team goal.
McManus played the ball into Warren who played it round the corner to Peers, who smashed the ball into the back of the net.
Some great work by Cooke on 54’ found McManus with a good square ball but his effort was over.
Zac Davies was the visitors main threat, and he got himself in on goal on 72’ but his effort was wide of Jones’ left post.
Sam Baker and Oli Lanceley were introduced on 72 minutes for Kaiden Cooke and goal scorer George Peers.
Airbus were very patient in their play as Penryhncoch sat in their low block and the WingMakers managed the game with keeping the ball. They were nearly punished on the break on 86 minutes though as Daniel Owen found himself a yard of space, but his tame effort was collected comfortably by Jones.
1 minute remaining of the 90, Airbus won themselves a corner, which Stevenson met but his header was over, and the score remained 2-0
The whistle blew on a professional performance by the WingMakers to take all three points.
