Airbus starting line-up included eight current academy players or academy graduates.

Airbus started very brightly and the game was very end-to-end in the first 20 minutes.

22 minutes, Airbus had their first clear-cut chance when a big clearance from Dutton was headed on by Knight into the path of Collins. Collins took a few touches to set himself but unfortunately his shot was straight at Pearson.

3 minutes later Airbus gained their reward when Knight scored his first goal of the evening. Great work from Collins created the opportunity for Knight to be 1v1 with Pearson and he scored a great goal past the Holywell keeper.

Just after the half hour mark, Holywell called Dutton into action, when a move down the right allowed Holywell to pull the ball back into the box for Dutton to save comfortably.

Holywell were growing into the game just before half time and Dutton had to be aware from a shot from range which was tipped just round the post.

From the resulting corner, Holywell got a deserved equaliser just before half time. A corner to the back post caused mayhem in the box, Dutton managed to get a hand to the ball but it fell to Holywell to keep the ball alive and Edwards to pounce to put the ball in the back of the Airbus net.

The second half started like the first and both teams had good possession and a few chances.

Five minutes into the Second half, Knight scored his second goal of the game. An amazing cross from Cooke to the back post found Knight who nodded in to make it 2-1 to Airbus.

Airbus’ lead lasted 5 minutes. Some great work by Holywell’s Cooke found space down the left with a great run, who pulled the ball back across the Airbus’ box which invaded everyone. But Winslade was on qué to unleash a brilliant shot into the top corner.

Peers and Evans were introduced to the fold on 62 minutes as Airbus searched for the winner.

With 15 minutes left of the 90, Holywell made it 3-2 to The Wellmen. Cooke with a shot from the left of the Airbus box produced a great save from Dutton, but Forbes picked up the pieces to slot the ball home.

83 minutes and Peers had a great chance to equalise for Airbus. He found himself in a perfect position between the Holywell defence, but struggled to get the ball out of his feet, which allowed the Holywell to defend the situation very well.

As we entered injury time, Airbus pushed for an equaliser to take the games to penalties but Greig seen his shot saved by Pearson.

Everyone involved in the game can be very proud of themselves as they pushed Holywell until the end. We wish Holywell the best of luck on the next round.
