Airbus made the trip to Flintshire rivals and last year’s champions Holywell on a sunny Saturday afternoon
There was three changes to the starting line-up that faced Bangor, with Louis Holden, Sam Rickett and Dan Collins replacing Jordan Evans, Kieran Evans and Nathan Williams.
The first 15 minutes of the game saw Holywell have most of the possession in the Airbus half but failed to test Keighan Jones.
Holywell carved the first chance of the game just after quarter of an hour, when Morgan Murray made progress down the left hand side and delivered a cross into the Airbus box to met by an overhead kick from Danny Andrews, but his ambitious effort was just over the bar.
22 minutes on the clock a long ball up the pitch from Holywell saw Jamie Breese chasing the ball where he was able to beat the Airbus defender, but Keighan Jones stopped the Holywell forward with a great block.
Half an hour player and Airbus had their first proper chance of the half when some brilliant link up play in midfield found Danny Warren with a through ball with only Shaun Pearson to beat, but the Holywell ‘keeper parried the shot, which fell at Warren’s feet on the edge of the box but Pearson stood tall to deny the Airbus No.8
Danny Andrews aimed a low cross towards Breese not long after but Joe Palmer read the passage of play and cleared the ball for a corner.
The corner that followed was intercepted by Airbus and a long ball forward found Kaiden Cooke in space to run onto and beat the on rushing Pearson and finish into an empty goal and give Airbus a 1-0 lead.
Half time arrived and Airbus took a slim 1-0 lead into the break.
Holywell started the second half looking to get themselves level after conceding 10 minutes before half time.
48’ minutes and Andrews was involved again, this time cutting the ball back which found Breese, but his shot was blocked.
A minute later, Holywell equalised, and it was Breese again who was involved. Danny Sullivan picked the ball up and played the ball into Breese’s path and the strikers shot was fired past Keighan Jones to bring the score level.
Keighan Jones was becoming a busy figure in goal; this time he made a great save from Beau Cornish.
Holywell were in front on 72’ minutes, when a corner from the hosts was cleared but only to Brady McGilloway, who delivered a cross into the box and Danny Sullivan was there to meet the ball and head past Jones.
A minute later, Holywell could have had a third when Breese found himself in a great position, but his touch past Jones saw his effort go past the post.
Airbus were searching for the equaliser, and George Peers’ effort which was hit with some force was saved by Pearson.
Airbus’ pressure was not enough to get them that equaliser and they fell to their second defeat of the season.
