Three points on the road for the WingMakers

There was a couple of changes to the starting line-up that started in our victory against Prestatyn last week. With Tyler McManus and Sam Baker replacing Joe Palmer and Ryan Edwards.

Mold got us under way in the first half on a cold and cloudy afternoon.

Both teams had a fair amount of possession in the first ten minutes, but it was Mold who had the first chance on 12 minutes when Keighan Jones was called into action who made a great save on the line, but the linesman raised his flag for offside.

As most weeks, Kaiden Cooke was causing problems for the Mold back line with his superb pace and trickery. He was played a great ball which allowed to him to attack the Mold box, but Davies made great ground, and he dented Cooke’s chance of threatening the Mold goal.

On the half hour mark, Airbus had a 1-0 lead. Sam Rickett played a great ball into Jordan Evans who took the pass on the half turn and played a ball into Jake Eyre, who delivered a pull back to Sam Baker who made no mistake with a side foot finish.

Eyre had a fantastic chance not long after Airbus took the lead, but his effort was just wide of the post with Smith scrambling.

Just before the half time break, Mold had a good chance to equalise when a scramble from the corner caused havoc in the Airbus box but Josh Stevenson was on hand to make an excellent block to deny the home team.

Going into half time, Airbus deserved their lead but had a big second half on their hands.

Danny Warren got Airbus underway in the second half with the rain clearing on a cold autumn afternoon.

Mold had the first effort of the second half when a fantastically delivered free kick looked destined to go in, but Lewis rose high for a header, but his effort was over.

Airbus doubled their goal tally just after the hour and gave themselves a little cushion to work with. Jordan Evans drove at the Mold defence and his shot ended up finding its way across the box and Baker was there at the back post to tap in.

72 minutes on the clock and Oli Lanceley was introduced for Jake Eyre, after our No.10 had put in a great shift.

Lanceley nearly had an instant impact after coming on, when youngster Stevenson delivered a wonderful cross to find Lanceley, but his header was just wide.

With 15 minutes left of the 90, Jones made a superb save from Rodgers with a fingertip save to deny the home team.

From that resulting save, Airbus turned defence into attack. Baker played a sublime pass into the path of Lanceley, and he had only the Mold ‘keeper Smith to beat and he made no mistake dispatching the ball into the back of the net and giving Airbus a 3-0 lead.

On 88 minutes, another academy graduate was given his first team debut when Hugh Holland replaced Kaiden Cooke. Another proud moment for the Academy and the Club

Airbus were deserved winners and left the MKH Stadium with 3 points and a clean sheet to keep their position at the top of the table, going into the weekend of Cup action against Porthmadog.
