Progression into the third round for the WingMakers after a 2-0 win against Porthmadog

Airbus made two changes to their starting line-up with Joe Palmer and Oli Lanceley replacing Kaiden Cooke and Josh Stevenson

Jordan Evans got the visitors underway on a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon, with Airbus kicking right to left.

The first ten minutes started with both teams trying to get the ball down and play and the first chance fell to the hosts, when a shot from Williams called Keighan Jones into an early safe at his near post.

Jordan Evans had the first chance for Airbus three minutes later, with some great link up play between himself and Oli Lanceley, but Evans dragged his shot.

Brookwell was creating problems for the Airbus defence with his runs behind and he found space down the right. The Porthmadog No.11 attacked the Airbus box and his square pass found Williams at the back post which looked like a goal but Williams saw his effort go agonisingly wide

Jordan Evans was involved once again just before the half hour; the No. 9 delivered a fantastic ball into the box where they seemed to be a push on Lanceley, but the ball landed at Sam Baker’s feet, but his shot was way over the bar.

Evans’ caused trouble with his brilliant delivery once again a few minutes later, this time Lanceley met the delivery but his header was just wide.

A few minutes before half time, Baker delivered a cross into the Porthmadog box and his cross bounced off the crossbar but Airbus were unable to take advantage of the situation.
Lanceley had another chance before the half time whistle and his shot was deflected wide for a corner.

Brookwell’s pace worked to his advantage as he made a run in behind the Airbus defence, but Sam Rickett made up the distance and defended the situation very well.

Into injury time of the first half, Evans had the last effort. His shot was deflected, which Farebrother saved and was only able to push it out into Eyre’s path, but his shot was blocked by the Porthmadog defender.

We headed into half time goalless with Airbus probably having the better of the chances.
Airbus were forced into a substitution at half time with Kaiden Cooke replacing Oli Lanceley.

Porthmadog got us underway in the second half with the WingMakers looking to step up the intensity and get a goal.

1 minute into the second half, Palmer had a great effort when his shot was deflected wide.
48 minutes and Airbus were forced into another substitution when George Peers replaced the influential Jordan Evans.

Kieran Evans should have given the visitors the lead as he unleashed a strike from the left of the penalty box and it looked destined to settle in the far side of the net but it came of the post and luckily to safety for Porthmadog.

Kieran Evans was involved again 5 minutes as he crossed a ball into the box for Eyre to meet before the Porthmadog defender, but his flicked header sailed over the bar.

Just before the hour, Airbus made their third substitution of the game with James Davies replacing Sam Baker.

Jones was called into action for the first time in the second half after Brookwell managed to find a yard of space and hit a venomous strike which Jones did well to get a hand to and keep the ball out.

Airbus were pushing for that goal and Danny Warren had a great chance, but the pass caught the Airbus No.8 by surprise and he was unable to get the ball under control.
Peers had an exceptional impact on the game when he was introduced to the game and he mad a great connection from a Cooke cross which he was unable to keep down.

Airbus had their goal with 15 minutes left of the clock. A corner from Palmer found Tyler McManus with a free header to give the WingMakers a well-deserved lead.

Eyre had a chance to double the visitors' lead as he struck the ball from the edge of the box which resulted in a comfortably saved by Farebrother.

89 minutes and Airbus confirmed their progression into the third round of the JD FAW Welsh Cup, as Davies tried an ambitious overhead kick which he pulled off as he made it 2-0.

Airbus had time to have one last chance, some great observation play from Warren played Eyre in with a flick around corner into Eyre’s path and his strike was saved by Farebrother and the follow up shot from Cooke was superbly blocked by the Porthmadog defender.

The whistle blew for full time and the WingMakers progressed into the next round.
