WingMakers bow out of the JD Welsh Cup at the quarter final stage to current Welsh Premier Champions

Airbus travelled to a cold and wet Park Hall on Saturday afternoon to take on TNS

There was three changes to Airbus’ starting line-up that started against Colwyn Bay in the league with Dan Collins, James Davies and Oli Lanceley replacing the suspended George Peers and Tyler McManus and Danny Warren

Before kick-off there was a minute of applause for Martin Pope who sadly passed away this year, who was a key part to TNS scholarship programme.

TNS got us underway for the afternoon kicking left to right.

Airbus had a great chance in the first couple of minutes when James Davies and Oli Lanceley caused TNS issues in their box, but they managed to clear for a corner.

5 minutes on the clock and Keighan Jones was called into action when he saved down low to deny Ben Clark and push the ball for a corner.

Jones was the busiest of the goalkeepers in the first exchanges and he tipped the ball over from an effort from Jordan Williams. From the resulting corner, Sion Bradley delivered from the left and Palmer cleared on his goal line with a fantastic header.

Zack Clarke thought he had the opener when he had just Jones to beat but Nathan Williams cleared the ball close to line to deny the TNS forward.

TNS had the opening goal of the game from Ben Clark on 27 minutes, when he volleyed home a cross from the left which was delivered by Marshall.

6 minutes later, Jones made a fantastic double save when he first denied Clark and then denied Bradley.

Ben Clark was involved again shortly after when he picked up a lose ball in the middle of the park, but his effort was just wide of the far post.

TNS had their second goal with 43 minutes on the clock, when a brilliant through ball from Zack Clarke found Leo Smith and he rounded Jones to place the ball in the back of the net.

There was 5 minutes injury time added on in the first half and TNS managed to carve another opportunity this time it was a shot from Jordan Williams, but his effort comes crashing off the post and Airbus were able to clear their lines

TNS headed into the half time break with a 2-goal lead.

Airbus got us underway in the second half looking to get their goal to get them back into the game and they nearly got that goal 2 minutes into the second half. Dan Collins picked the ball up on the edge of the area and his effort was wide after a great strike for the young midfielder.

49 minutes TNS had a third, after a ball was crossed in from the left, which Kieran Evans met as he went to head back to Jones but the defenders header ends up in the back of the net.

Jones had made some crucial saves in the first half and his great performance continued into the second half as he denied Clarke.

Just before the hour, TNS had their 4th goal of the game after Sion Bradley danced through the Airbus box and slotted the ball through Jones’ legs.

On the hour TNS were starting to have a few chances and the hosts hit the woodwork twice, with Clarke’s effort coming off the post after a superb strike.

Airbus made a double substitution on 61 minutes with Danny Warren and Josh Stevenson replacing Kaiden Cooke and Ryan Edwards.

65 minutes Airbus worked the ball out to the left to Kieran Evans and the Airbus No.3 decided to cross the ball into the TNS box, Collins managed to get a foot to the cross, but it was wide and out for a goal kick.

Some great hold up play from substitute Warren allowed James Davies to pick the ball up and run towards goal and into the TNS box, but Connor Roberts was quick off his line to smother the ball and deny the Airbus forward.

On 70 minutes, TNS had another chance to increase their goal tally, but Joshua Pask was unable to make a connection with the ball in the 6-yard box.

TNS substitution Oteh nearly had an instant impact when his strike hit the post.

It was 5-0 to hosts with 15 minutes remaining after TNS were rewarded a free kick, Bradley delivered into the box, and it was met by Zack Clarke for his first goal for the club.

Josh Stevenson put his body on the line with three minutes to go with a fantastic block to deny the hosts.

That was the last of the action as the referee blew for full time and Airbus exited the JD Welsh cup at the quarter final stage.

We would like to wish TNS good luck in the next round
