We caught up with our young right back

Hey Tyler, you have been at Airbus since under 11s, what position did you start off at?

T.M. “I started in central midfield, but have played in a variety of positions at each stage of my journey through the academy.”

So you say you started off as a centre midfield, is there a preferred position you have enjoyed playing on your journey through the academy?

T.M. “I wouldn’t say so, I have loved playing in midfield with freedom throughout my years in the academy.”

Obviously, when you come into an academy environment your target is to be break into the first team?

T.M. “Yes, that was my long term target.

At first, I focused on just making it through to the next age group year upon year, but when I got to the under 19 stage, my main focus was definitely to break into the first team squad.”

Your form this season has been brilliant, you seem to be enjoying your football?

T.M. “I have loved every minute I’ve been out on the pitch. It was difficult to settle into a new position at right back, but I have enjoyed the challenge.

I am grateful to Skip and Chappers for the opportunities they’ve given me this year, and hope to keep performing well for them and the team.”

Most weeks you are nominated for Man of the match, and you have come away as the winner on several occasions, do you set yourself individual targets?

T.M. “It’s a great feeling being nominated for man of the match.

My aim for each match is to play my best to help the team as much as possible.”

We spoke last week about getting that first senior goal, and you nearly had that against Bangor?

T.M. “Yes, I have been waiting for a goal since I first made my senior debut.

Unfortunately it didn’t come against Bangor, but hopefully it’ll come soon with patience.”
